Entry Deadline

All entries and judge information must be made on this website by Friday December 5, 2008. Although we have an entry deadline, our facilities will fill up fast.  Please enter as soon as possible.  Changes may be made on this site until 5:00pm Friday December 19, 2008.

 
Changes/Drops

Fees will be set at  6:00pm Friday December 5, 2008. Any drops made prior to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008 will only incur  the original entry fee.  Cancellations or “DROPS”  made the day of or during the tournament will be assessed $25.00 per dropped slot and $50.00 per dropped judge.  “No Shows” will count as a drop.

The website will not be accessible
after 5:00 p.m.(pst) on Friday, December 19, 2008.


 
Entry Conflict

A student may enter up to 3 events, but it is the responsibility of the competitor to make each round


Judging Requirements

Schools MUST provide 1 judge for every 6 slots entered and must be available at all times the school is in competition and one round beyond the schools elimination.

Hotel and Accomidations
Room blocks are being held at the Marriott in Fullerton (2701 East Nutwood Avenue Fullerton, CA 92831/ 714-738-7800)   Note that ALL reservations are a transaction between the establishment and you/your program.

The hotel is offering rooms at $79.00 per day.  Please use this venue since they have adjusted their rates for this tournament.  To book rooms call 1-800-228-9290 and ask for the Fullerton Speech rate.

Rules

All CHSSA rules apply. 

Rules for Sports Broadcasting are:

"Sports Broadcasting” is a limited preparation event designed to promote and improve audio play-by-play and commentary of athletic events. Specifically, this event encourages development of sports communication background and knowledge as well as delivery and presentation skills.           

Each round will consist of a 30-minute preparation period and a 5-minute performance.  

For each preparation period, including the final round, students will receive: 

a.      A digital copy of a 5-minute section of the game. (preliminary plans include NCAA football, basketball, and baseball).

b.     The sports information packets from each university/team.

c.      Updated team statistics.

d.      Final box score

** competitors are expected to provide their own DVD-capable laptop computer.
